trustees

In essence, the primary responsibility of the Board of Trustees is to ensure that the Khayelitsha Community Trust generates funds in a socially responsible manner that will ultimately contribute to the general empowerment and upliftment of the Khayelitsha community.

In addition, the Board of Trustees is charged with facilitating and overseeing the Khayelitsha Business District (KBD) Development Project.

The Trustees are in the process of planning phase two of the development of the remaining land. The business plan will be developed to inform the prospective investors and partners of the Trust’s intentions. The key goals and objectives of the KCT are to:

  • improve and manage the KBD’s retail centre
  • develop access to, circulation and parking at the Khayelitsha Mall
  • implement phase one of the housing development project
  • improve infrastructure for the Khayelitsha Business District (including the railway extension)
